Hurricane Gustav (or Tropical Storm)

My thoughts on hurricanes in general:

1: Except for the rare occasions when it really hits us, 90% of the time, it never hits us, meaning the U.S. (get it). Its always that (insert name here) Caribbean Island that gets floored, and the US weathermen and weatherwomen just say (oh, so and so got hit) but Galveston may be hit with a tropical storm.

2. Radar dopplers can tell a lot, have you ever seen a real Hurrcicane dopler. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Hurricane Mitch: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Hurricane_Mitch_1998_oct_26_2028Z.jpg

Thats what the doplar should l0ok like

3. The excitement of a natural disaster: It may cause destruction, but lets face it folks, its exciting to deal with it, even if we over-exaggerate. Its really fun to think we are in Defcon 1, panic mode. Why not, you only live once?

4. Whats in a name? Are their certain storm names that instill fear? instill mockery?

Gustav, Eduard (homo), Faye (Female corporate business women), Mario (I made that one up), Andrew (watch out folks, its Andrew)

Thats it for now folks, check back later for new posts and have a good weekend.
